Business ServiceWhatsApp is gearing up to finally monetize its messaging app by charging large enterprise businesses for tools to better communicate with customers. WhatsApp began testing verified accounts for businesses a week ago. Conversations with businesses are encrypted and they can be blocked. Interestingly, if a business isn’t already in your phone number contacts, its name will appear as whatever they register themselves as instead of their number. This could allow WhatsApp to create a business search engine with optional sponsored results, or let businesses cold-message people, possibly for a fee.

The ability to monitor the health of business services is a key advantage of having a service-aligned” view of IT. Underpinning this service-aligned view is a concise, accurate, real-time mapping of applications, their supporting IT components, and their inter-relationships. Once these maps are bound to real-time data from IT service monitoring and event management systems, an accurate, always up-to-date measurement of the health of each business service is readily accessible, including the criticality and priority of incidents affecting service health. Ideally, this information is presented in an intuitive dashboard that lets IT staff see the health of business services across the enterprise at a glance.

Additionally, newer technologies such as service-oriented architectures (SOA), virtualization , cloud computing , portal frameworks , grid architectures , and mashups within an organization make troubleshooting and monitoring of business services very difficult. 5 A single business process or service may be supported by a number of composite applications, all of which could be dependent on a diverse set of distributed computing and communications elements. 6 An isolated issue anywhere in this complex web may impact one or more tasks in the business process. Traditional network management systems and technology-centric monitoring approaches are incapable of determining the business impact of an issue in such a complicated infrastructure environment. This has given rise to application performance management and the real user monitoring (RUM) technology that now monitors the end user experience (EUE) in real-time.
